'Subramaniapuram'started it,'Renigunta' followed suit and now 'Maathi Yosi' more or less same story outline and themes. 'MY' placed under the category of 'A', hence the 'U/A' certification is provided. The film 'Maathi Yosi'means 'Think Differently'. Director Nandha Periyasamy's second offering after his'Oru Kalluriyin Kathai'. The film title suggests that the leading roles are an smart foursome who think and act cunningly, they do so too, for a while.But very shortly the story and scrrenplay move to a much-travelled track.

As the movie proceeds director touches upon a social evil, said to be still present in rural villages around Madurai- caste discrimination. The move deserves compliments.


Four young village boys like Paandi,Onnan, Manga and Mari., they are close friends. Their wrong-doing and cunning acts land them in trouble ,but they continue unfazed. When they cross limits the head (G.M.Kumar)goes for their jugular and hence they run away from village to Chennai where they meet Shammu and their crime limit reaches a new high.

They may be murderers but their purpose i honest. They may be thieves but their sense of right and wrong can't be faulted,seems to be the director's stand.


Harish as Paandi is a capable find. You had enjoyed Gopal's poker-faced humour in 'Kallori'. Here he dons a completely different role of a devoted friend and unusual killer.His encounters with snakes and the group's apathetic attack on hapless animals are a little too strange.

The cold-blooded murders get repetitive and after a point, predictable. Thankfully, at this moment Ponvannan enters and introduces some positive power/energy into 'MY'. The Cameo provides an interesting twist,though again Ponvannan's plight in the movie has been seen quite often on scrren. The actor's underplayed performance is commendable.

The first fight sequence between the police inspector and the four youngster is vey realistic. 'Speed' Sayed is the stunt choreographer. The cinematographer Vijay Armstrong too has managed to capture the beauty of rural areas.

Snehan's words and Guru Kalyan's score meld to make 'Saathirangal' an ear-friendly number. Bharathiyar's 'Achcham Thavir' has been efectively incorportated into the music,but the decible level of the re-recording where the title gets repeated over and over again demage the audio nerves.

Rural romance- a trend guided in, inthe recent past, with the sucess of films, such as 'Subramaniapuram'- comes to the fore yet again with 'Aval Peyar Tamizharasi'. AVT guides clear of the usually showcased villages around Madurai and some scene of action to rural Tirunelveli.First time director Meera Kathiravan has to be mentioned for his choice of actor from Jai to the junior most every actor demonstrates wonderful for the role he acts.


Exciting Cast

Childhood affection blossoms into love when Jothi(Jai) and Tamizharasi(Nandagi) reach their teen-age. Tamizh is attentive and comes out with flying colours in her school final exam while Jothi is direct oppsite as far as academics go. Hix Complex makes him fear that he could lose Tamizh.

Jai looks every inch a Class XII in the flashback.He's equally effective in the later stages, as a squanderer and pining lover. Debutant Nandagi is a natural- none can  say she's a new face. the heroine justifies to go places. Theodore Bhaskaran inthe role of Jothi's grandfather is a surprise. Remember Rama, the Heroine of Bharathiraaja's 'En Yuir Thozhan', She returns as the mother of Tamizh and performs a rural performance, while 'Ganja Karuppu',who looks very much a part of the village environment, inducing a smile now and then.


Tamilzh's last meeting with Jai, where eyes convey much more than words.It's a different Vijay Antony achieve that you get to listen in 'APT'. Simple and in tune with the sorroundings, the music of 'APT'appeals.

The cinematography of P.G. Muthiah that lightened up the viewers visual scene in 'Poo' and 'Kandaen Kaadhalai', re-creates the magic, both in the outdoor and
indoor scenes.

The Village pretender checking Tamizh's pulse and telling her condition is a little too far-fetched.Story-telling the resemble way is interesting,but when the show in a far away town in Maharashtra is conducted in pure Tamil, the strangeness sticks out like sore thumb! Tamilzharasi's character that was scored with dignity till the climax,takes a beating because of the mundane reason she gives, to be with Jothi for a few moments.

'APT' would have been as even better picture of true life situations if Kathiravan had plugged the ambiguity in the storyline.Pace is no problem because matters move just as they should. But the content could have been more reasonable.

When he opens his eyes he sees the beautiful,similing face of Poonam Bajwa. Jeeva Falls in love with  Poonam Bajwa and he is proposed his love to her. But she doesn't accept his  love!.

Actor Silambarasan in on Cloud Nine, since he recently drew a lot of praise for his looks in Gautham Menon's Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (VTV). After opting out from K.V. Anand's Ko, the handsome star is all set to start the much hyped Valiban. Apart from playing the lead role, Simbu will also wield the megaphone for the film. Valiban is expected to be a love story with a message and Yuvanshankar Raja will compose the music for the film, sources say. There are also reports that the film will go on floors from March 25.

The audio of choreographer-actor-turned-director Lawrence Raghavendra's forthcoming bilingual Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam (Super Cowboy in Telugu), directed by Simbudevan, will be launched on March 9.

Produced by Kalpathi S. Agoram under the banner of SGS Entertainments with a massive budget of Rs. 20 crores, the film has almost completed its post production works and is all set to grace screens across Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in March. The exact date is yet to be announced.

Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam/ Super Cowboy is an 18th century subject with much comedy and adventure. Padmapriya and Lakshmi Rai are the heroines. Also in the cast are Saikumar, Sandhya, Nasser, Manorama, Senthil, Mouli, Delhi Ganesh and Ramesh Khanna. Dialogues are by Sriramakrishna, lyrics by Vanamali, music by G.V. Prakash and choreography by Lawrence himself.

We know that Kamal Haasan's upcoming venture with K.S. Ravikumar has been tentatively titled Yavarum Kelir. The film will be produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under Red Giant Movies banner. Recently, Trisha and Madhavan were signed for prominent roles in the film. Now the latest buzz is that after repeated discussions and finetuning, the original script got changed from its original version. So reportedly the film will now be titled Karunyam.

Shivappu Mazhai, a film by V. Krishnamoorthy, has entered the Guinness Book of World Records by being completed in less than 12 days. Shooting and post-production of the two-hour Tamil film Shivappu Mazhai was completed in a record 11 days, 23 hours and 45 minutes, thus creating a new record.

The earlier record was set by filmmakers Russ Malkin and John Gore for their film The Fastest Forward, made in 13 days in 1990. Shivappu Mazhai commenced on May 22 and was successfully completed by June 3, 2009, with more than 600 technicians working on the project. Director Krishnamoorthy revealed that the film is based on problems of Sri Lankan Tamils. The film is produced by Andrew Raymond & Suresh Joachim under Suresh Joachim Entertainment Inc. & Joachim International Inc. The film will be released across the globe with subtitles in English on March 12, 2010.

We all know Dhanush is a director’s actor who doesn’t use the name of his legendary father-in-law to get his things done. At the same time he follows the advices of Rajini to the hilt.

Dhanush can be spotted these days wearing a valuable ‘rudraksha’ mala. Sources say that was a gift from the super star to his son-in-law on his third wedding anniversary. The film has Mirugam-fame Aadhi in the lead along with Meera Nandan and is directed by debutant Rajamithran, an Adyar film institute graduate.

The film is seeped in ‘Amma Pasam’ (mother sentiments) and isset in a village and the city. The music of the film is by Thaman and camera is by Sethu Sriram. Santhanam is doing a hilarious comedy track,taking a dig at Osama Bin Laden.
